ANU Supporting Easter Lake Light Sculpture in Jindabyne

Image: Sea Chnage by Richard Moffatt, winner of the 2008 Lake Light Sculpture Festival in Jindabyne over the Easter weekendOnce again the Easter 2009 Lake Light Sculpture Festival promises to be a successful event with a wide range of sculptures to inspire and a festival atmosphere to make the most of in Banjo Paterson Park beside Lake Jindabyne. 

The ANU, along with Snow FM,2XL and Snowy River Arts are supporting the major cash prize along with ANU offering a 3 week residency in their sculpture workshop. 

 Lake Crackenback Resort is generously supporting the highly contested Illumination prize. The resort is also partnering with Lake Light Sculpture to offer an extended exhibition of selected works in their stunning bushland grounds, a natural outdoor gallery and a real privilege for the artists.

Other prizes include the Perisher Environment award, the Woolworths Youth Award, Koscuiszko Thredbo Schools Award and the 2020 Financial Solutions Peoples Choice Award. 

The sculpture exhibition is open all day and illuminated after dark allowing plenty of time for the early dawn walkers, energetic families, pet lovers, evening strollers and star gazers to take in the exhibition when it suits them best.  The festival is accessible to all people of all ages including wheelchair access. 

A weekend of activities is planned including the “outdoor studio” art workshops for the whole family, a place to sit and savour a cup of coffee with friends, beer tasting with Snowy Mountains Microbrewery and carnival rides.  The CWA will be selling their famous scones on Saturday afternoon at the large Scone Sculpture.

Jindabyne is alive with art events at Easter; visit the regional fairs, art, craft and quilting shows. Lions Art Show, Snowy Quilters Exhibition and the Craft market. 

Follow the Alpine Way Art Trail via Lake Crackenback Resort, to enjoy sculptures, cafes, restaurants, outdoor activities and beautiful alpine scenery.

Visitors should also head up to Perisher and Charlottes Pass for inspiration from natural sculptural forms and invigorating mountain scenery.
